At Colorado Mental Health Services- Powered By Red Rock Recovery Center, our Intensive Outpatient Program provides a high level of care while allowing individuals to continue with their daily responsibilities.

Why Choose Our IOP

Our program offers a flexible schedule that allows individuals to receive the treatment they need without disrupting their work or family life. Our IOP combines individual therapy,  group therapy, and psychiatric services to provide a comprehensive approach to mental health treatment, addressing both personal and social factors that may contribute to mental health conditions.

An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a type of mental health treatment program that provides more intensive support and treatment than traditional outpatient therapy, but less intensive than inpatient hospitalization. The following is a potential outline for a mental health IOP curriculum, which may be adapted or modified based on the needs and resources of the specific program:

What is the mission of Colorado Mental Health Services?

The mission of Colorado Mental Health Services is to build a community-centered mental health treatment program that serves the Denver metro area through small and moderately sized group programming. CMHS exists for people who need more than one-on-one therapy but who do not need inpatient care — offering a meaningful middle step that addresses isolation, builds community, and equips clients with practical coping and grounding skills. The program is clinically driven and designed to treat a wide range of mental health diagnoses with individualized, evidence-based care.

The primary treatment providers at CMHS are Erik and Molly, who serve on the clinical staff and lead the therapeutic programming. The program is overseen by Hannah, who serves as Clinical Director. Weekly psychiatric services are provided by an on-staff psychiatrist. The admissions team — Rustin, Luke, Shiloh, and Justin — is shared with Red Rock Recovery and is experienced in helping clients determine the appropriate level of care for their needs.

CMHS stands apart from other IOP mental health programs in several important ways. Most IOP programs offer one individual therapy session per week; CMHS provides two individual sessions per week, which is significantly more contact with a dedicated therapist. Additionally, clients receive weekly psychiatric services, including medication management — not as an add-on, but as a core component of the program. The group curriculum is dynamic and designed to treat a wide range of mental health conditions, not just one diagnostic category. Finally, CMHS is community-centered: the group model is intentionally designed to counteract isolation, which is a driver of many mental health struggles. Competitors in the Denver market include Red Point, Sandstone, Northpoint, Denver Springs, and Recovery Village.

Yes. CMHS holds accreditation from The Joint Commission (JCAHO), which is considered the gold standard for behavioral health accreditation. The program is also licensed by the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration (BHA). These credentials demonstrate that CMHS meets rigorous standards for safety, clinical quality, and program integrity.

CMHS is designed for people with primary mental health diagnoses. Clients who have a secondary or co-occurring substance use disorder may be accepted if they have already completed a substance use treatment program and their substance use is stable. CMHS does not offer detox, MAT (medication-assisted treatment) for substance use, or residential substance use programming. Clients who require SUD treatment are encouraged to explore Red Rock Recovery Center, which operates within the same organization.
