Therapy Services

At Colorado Mental Health Services, we offer a wide range of therapy services to help individuals overcome mental health challenges and achieve lasting recovery. Our team of licensed therapists and mental health professionals are dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to support our clients in reaching their goals.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a one-on-one treatment that allows individuals to work with a licensed therapist to address specific mental health challenges and work through their emotions. Our therapists use evidence-based modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic therapy to help individuals develop coping skills, improve communication, and achieve their goals.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is a supportive environment that provides individuals with the opportunity to connect with others who are going through similar experiences. Our groups are led by licensed therapists and cover a variety of topics, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and more. Group therapy can help individuals develop social skills, improve communication, and build a support network.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is a type of therapy that involves the entire family in the treatment process. Our family therapists work with families to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and build stronger relationships. Family therapy can be especially helpful for families who are dealing with issues such as substance abuse, trauma, and mental health challenges.

Case Management

Case management is a service that helps individuals navigate the mental health care system and connect with the resources they need to achieve their goals. Our case managers work closely with clients to assess their needs, develop a plan of care, and coordinate services such as housing, employment, and medical care.

Medication Management

Our licensed psychiatrists can help individuals manage their medications and adjust their treatment plan as needed. Medication management is an important component of mental health treatment and can help individuals manage symptoms of mental health challenges.

At Colorado Mental Health Services, we believe in taking a personalized and holistic approach to mental health care. We work with each individual to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to their unique needs, goals, and circumstances. If you or a loved one is struggling with a mental health challenge, we’re here to help. Contact us today to learn more about our therapy services and how we can support you on your journey to lasting recovery.

What types of therapy does CMHS offer?

CMHS offers a comprehensive array of evidence-based and holistic therapeutic modalities, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Attachment-Based Family Therapy, Trauma-Specific Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Life Skills Training, Meditation and Mindfulness, Holistic Therapy, Couples Counseling, and Family Therapy. The curriculum is dynamic and tailored to the individual, which allows CMHS to effectively treat a wide range of mental health diagnoses within the same program.

Yes. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy used at CMHS for the treatment of PTSD, complex trauma, and trauma-related anxiety. EMDR is recognized by the American Psychological Association and the World Health Organization as an effective treatment for trauma. It works by helping the brain reprocess distressing memories so they lose their emotional charge. At CMHS, EMDR is provided during individual therapy sessions with trained clinicians, making it one of the key clinical strengths of the program for trauma-focused care.

Yes. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a core therapy offered at CMHS and is one of the most well-researched treatments for borderline personality disorder (BPD). DBT focuses on building four core skill sets: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. At CMHS, DBT skills are integrated into both group programming and individual therapy, which allows clients with BPD — a population the program reports high demand from — to receive comprehensive DBT-informed care within the IOP structure.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that uses rapid eye movements and imagery rescripting to help clients quickly reprocess traumatic memories and distressing experiences. Unlike traditional trauma therapies, ART often produces significant results in fewer sessions — sometimes in just one to five sessions. CMHS offers ART as part of its trauma-focused clinical toolkit, making it particularly useful for clients dealing with PTSD, acute trauma, or chronic distress tied to specific life events.

Yes. CMHS provides weekly psychiatric services, including medication management, as a standard component of the IOP program — not as an add-on service. This is a significant clinical differentiator. Clients meet with a psychiatrist weekly to monitor, adjust, and optimize their medications as part of their overall treatment plan. While CMHS does not provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders, medication management for mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, and psychotic disorders is a core offering.

Yes. CMHS uses a clinically driven, evidence-based treatment model. All primary therapeutic modalities — including CBT, DBT, EMDR, ACT, ART, and Motivational Interviewing — are recognized by major clinical bodies such as the American Psychological Association (APA), SAMHSA, and the World Health Organization (WHO). The program holds Joint Commission (JCAHO) accreditation and a Colorado BHA state license, both of which require ongoing adherence to evidence-based standards of care. The curriculum is individualized, meaning treatment plans are tailored to each client’s specific diagnosis, history, and goals.
