Seeking treatment for mental health is the first step to recovery. It requires courage and is a sign of strength.
At Colorado Mental Health Services, we offer expert care for mental health disorders. We have an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) run by licensed professionals, ready to guide you toward a healthier, happy life.
Our center is located in Lakewood, Colorado. Contact us to start healing.
An Intensive Outpatient Program is a form of structured care where you attend sessions at our center throughout the week, but you return home in the evenings.
Our IOP runs 3 days a week for 3 hours a day. It includes:
The typical duration is 12 weeks but can be extended to 20 weeks in some cases.
Our IOP is overseen by our Medical Director, who is a board-certified psychiatrist and specializes in the treatment of mental health disorders.
Our expert team delivers personalized care that meets your current needs and facilitates your recovery goals.
We have years of experience supporting people with their mental health, and we’ve helped many people find stability and a better quality of living.
We combine evidence-based therapies, medication management where needed, and wellness activities to provide comprehensive care.
We genuinely care about your progress.
Joining our IOP is straightforward. We make accessing care simple so you can begin healing as soon as possible.
We accept most commercial insurance providers at Colorado Mental Health Services. Contact us and we’ll conduct a Verification of Benefits (VOB) to confirm that our IOP is covered by your provider and plan.
Our treatment applies to a range of mental health disorders, including:
Our team are all licensed medical professionals. They use different therapeutic approaches based on your individual needs. These can include:
Receive structured, intermediate care that balances intensive treatment while you still live at home in Colorado.
Integrate new skills from treatment into the real world in real time. These include coping mechanisms and creating healthier relationship dynamics.
Access peer support from group therapy as well as from your personal network. Research shows social support contributes to better treatment outcomes.
Prioritize your mental health and still have the option to work, study or continue other responsibilities.
Contact us to discuss how our Intensive Outpatient Program can help you. We believe that everyone can heal and deserves to feel fulfilled.
IOP serves as a step-down from residential care or a step-up from traditional therapy, preventing relapse and providing a strong support network for those needing more than weekly sessions but not 24-hour supervision. Unlike residential care, attendees do not stay overnight at a health facility while in an IOP.
Our IOP is designed to provide comprehensive and effective care to individuals struggling with mental health conditions in a supportive and compassionate environment. It suits people who have work, family or other responsibilities and require greater flexibility while undergoing care.
Yes, we accept most major insurance providers. Contact our admissions team who will verify your insurance. The process involves confirming that your provider and plan cover the cost of IOP. We will give you a clear financial breakdown, including if there are additional costs.
We offer the program 3 days a week for 3 hours a day. The typical duration of our IOP is 12 weeks but can be extended to 20 weeks in some cases.
Our program is overseen by our Medical Director, who is a board-certified psychiatrist and who specializes in the treatment of mental health disorders. All of our IOP team are licensed medical professionals with deep experience treating mental health disorders.
We treat a range of mental health disorders, including: depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and eating disorders. Contact us with any questions about treating a mental health disorder you have.
We use a combination of evidence-based therapies, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) when necessary, and wellness activities. The therapies we have include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Family Therapy, Trauma-Specific Therapy, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).
The primary benefit is the ability to practice real-world coping skills immediately while attending therapy several hours a week. IOP also builds program attendees’ confidence and autonomy as they recover. They can access support from their personal networks and continue work/study or other responsibilities while receiving essential support.

Colorado Mental Health services was a beacon of hope during one of the darkest times in my life. From the moment I arrived, the staff treated me with compassion, respect, and unwavering support. They truly understood what I was going through and provided not just a place to heal, but the tools and guidance I needed to rebuild my life.
The program at Colorado Mental Health services is structured yet deeply personal, offering a balance of therapy, education, and community that made all the difference in my recovery. They didn’t just help me get sober—they helped me rediscover myself, build resilience, and develop the confidence to move forward.
Now, a year later, I’m beyond grateful for the life I have today, and I owe so much of that to Colorado Mental Health services. If you or a loved one is struggling and looking for a place that truly cares, I can’t recommend Colorado Mental Health services highly enough. They don’t just offer treatment—they offer hope, healing, and a future worth fighting for.
I am grateful for Colorado Mental Health services. My experience into the world of recovery was with much apprehension. The staff at the inpatient facility, though PHP and IOP were extremely understanding and helpful while I came to a real understanding of what addiction is and how it has affected my life.
Nothing is like Colorado Mental Health services. It was the best choice I’ve ever made regarding my addiction & recovery. Caring, professional staff (many whom are in long term recovery themselves and understand), comprehensive program, group & 1 on 1 therapy, and activities like yoga, hiking, and gym in a comfortable atmosphere in the beautiful, nature-filled Morrson/Conifer area. There 4 stage program changed my life. Detox, residential treatment, PHP, & IOP. And then there’s the excellent alumni program with tons of support through meetings, events & activities. If you’re committed to fighting an addiction, this is the place to go.
This program saved my life and every day gives me the tools and resources to make it a life I want to live. Words fall far too short of the gratitude I have for this program and everything they have done for me. So many resources, spectacular staff, refreshingly authentic care and love in this program. I’ve never felt so supported and secure and safe. From my first phone call on through to the present, it’s been nothing but exceptional. My sanctuary, my recovery cocoon and somewhere I’ll feel at home throughout my recovery journey and life. I feel confident now that my recovery and future has begun. A life of freedom and opportunity. I was hopeless, discouraged and desperate. I never have to feel that way again. Thank you COLORADO MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ~ FOREVER GRATEFUL

Colorado Mental Health services is so much more than an addiction treatment program. This program and the incredible staff have allowed me to find a sense of purpose and a tight knit community. The skills and coping mechanisms taught during group therapy are so vital to my recovery and I continue to use them every day outside of treatment. The staff provided constant support and guidance every step of the way and continue to even after completing the program. Their unwavering support, deep knowledge, and compassion made the daunting journey of sobriety feel genuinely achievable and worthwhile. The uncertainty on the road to recovery can be overwhelming and may seem unfeasible at first. For anyone who is struggling with these fears and looking for some semblance of hope and meaningful connections this is your place.
