Can ADHD cause big emotional reactions?

Yes. Emotional dysregulation is common in adult ADHD. It can look like quick frustration, feeling flooded by small setbacks, or reactions that feel bigger than the moment. It is part of how ADHD works for many adults, not a character flaw, and we work on it directly in skills groups and individual sessions.

Could my anxiety or depression actually be ADHD?

Sometimes. ADHD, anxiety and depression overlap, and one can be mistaken for another, especially in adults who were never evaluated as children. Our team takes a fresh look at past diagnoses rather than inheriting them, and builds your plan around what we actually find. If an earlier diagnosis still fits, we will say so.

Do I need an ADHD diagnosis to start?

You don't need one. You start with a free pre-assessment, a conversation with our team about what is going on and whether our program is the right fit. There is no referral or paperwork needed to call. If you have records from past care, bring them and we will take them into account.

Will I have to change my ADHD medication?

You keep your existing prescriptions. Our psychiatric team reviews what you take as part of your care and coordinates with your outside prescriber, so nothing changes without a conversation with you first. If an adjustment might help, it is discussed openly and decided together, never simply handed to you.

How can group therapy help with ADHD?

Groups are where coping and emotional regulation skills get practised with people who understand. Eight to twelve adults meet three mornings a week and trade what actually works for planning, focus and hard moments. Hearing your own experience described by someone else often makes it easier to change.

Can I keep working during the program?

Often, yes. Our ADHD IOP in Colorado meets Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 am to 12 pm, which suits people with flexible schedules, afternoon or evening shifts, or time on leave. Your one individual session each week is arranged with your therapist, and we can talk through your schedule first.

Is adult ADHD treatment covered by insurance?

We accept Colorado Access, Cigna, Anthem, BCBS PPO, UnitedHealthcare, Optum, Tricare West and Kaiser Medicaid. Medicare isn't one of the plans we can accept. What you pay depends on your specific plan, so the quickest way to know is a free insurance check before you start, with no obligation.

How do you track progress?

Every week you complete Track 9, a short check-in on depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, optimism and symptoms specific to you. You and your clinician see the same scores over time. When the numbers stall, your plan changes rather than staying the same, so progress is measured, not assumed.
